Managing Threads

Organize your conversations with threads.

What is a Thread?

A thread is a conversation session with:

• Message history
• Selected model
• Tool configuration
• Custom title

Creating Threads

New Thread

Click + or press Cmd/Ctrl+N to create a new thread.

From Sidebar

Right-click in the sidebar and select New Thread.

Thread Sidebar

The sidebar shows all your threads:

• Recent threads at the top
• Grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, Last Week, etc.)
• Search to filter threads

Thread Actions

Right-click a thread for options:

• Rename: Change the title
• Duplicate: Copy the thread
• Delete: Remove permanently
• Pin: Keep at top of list

Thread Settings

Each thread has its own settings:

Model

Select the default model for this thread. Can be changed during conversation.

System Prompt

Custom instructions for this thread. Overrides the global system prompt.

Temperature

Response creativity level (0-2).

Tools

Configure which tools are available.

Auto-Titling

Threads are automatically titled based on the first message. You can:

• Edit the title manually
• Regenerate the title
• Disable auto-titling in settings

Thread Organization

Pinning

Pin important threads to keep them at the top of your list.

Folders

Organize threads into folders:

1. Create a folder from the sidebar menu
2. Drag threads into folders
3. Collapse/expand folders

Archives

Archive old threads to hide them from the main list without deleting.

Search

Quick Search

Press Cmd/Ctrl+K to open quick search:

• Search thread titles
• Search message content
• Filter by date range

Advanced Search

Use search operators:

• in:title - Search titles only
• in:messages - Search message content
• model:gpt-4 - Filter by model
• before:2024-01-01 - Date filters

Export

Export threads for backup or sharing:

Single Thread

1. Open the thread
2. Click the menu (⋯)
3. Select Export
4. Choose format (JSON, Markdown, PDF)

Bulk Export

1. Go to Settings → Data
2. Click Export All Threads
3. Download the archive

Import

Import threads from other sources:

1. Click Import in the sidebar
2. Select the file
3. Choose merge or replace options

Sync

Threads sync automatically when:

• Using the same account
• WebSocket connection is active

Sync status is shown in the sidebar footer.

Deletion

Delete Thread

Right-click → Delete or press Delete key.

Deleted threads are moved to trash and permanently deleted after 30 days.

Recover Thread

Go to Trash in the sidebar to recover deleted threads.

Clear All

Settings → Advanced → Clear All Data removes all threads permanently.

Tips

1. Use descriptive titles: Makes finding threads easier
2. Pin important threads: Quick access to frequently used conversations
3. Archive completed work: Keep sidebar clean
4. Regular exports: Backup important conversations
5. Use folders: Group related threads together
